ASTM f2085-19 mandatory standard for portable bed rails

On February 25, 2020, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) of the United States issued a mandatory standard "16 CFR Part 1224 - portable bedside safety standard" in the Federal Register. The new version of ASTM f2085-19 "portable bedside Standard Consumer Safety Specification" which came into effect on May 20, 2020 was cited in the regulations and other standards. This code defines a portable bed rail as a portable rail installed on the edge of an adult bed or on the surface of a mattress to prevent children from falling off the bed.

Compared with the previous version of ASTM f2085-12, the substantial change in ASTM f2085-19 is that the fiber content of the mattress used for testing changes from 50 / 50 cotton / polyester blend to 60 / 40 cotton / polyester blend, which is common in the market.
